Terms and community guidelines

The rules for using Dota2sphere, and how we keep it a good place to find a stack.

In short

  • Use the site freely and fairly: no bots, scraping or attempts to break it.
  • What you post stays yours, and you're responsible for it.
  • Be the teammate you'd want. We remove abuse and can suspend accounts.
  • Our stats are estimates and come without guarantees.

Using Dota2sphere

By using Dota2sphere you agree to these terms, including the community guidelines below. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

Dota2sphere is run by one independent developer, not a company; “we” in these terms means that developer.

Browsing is free and needs no account. Profiles and teams need you to sign in through Steam.

Accounts

You need a Steam account in good standing, and you must be old enough to accept these terms where you live: at least 16 in the EEA and the UK, and at least 13 elsewhere, with a parent's permission where the law requires it.

One Dota2sphere account belongs to one person and one Steam account. Don't sign in for someone else or share your account; you're responsible for what happens under it.

What you post

Your profile, team names, tags, descriptions and messages stay yours. By posting them you allow us to host and show them on Dota2sphere, free of charge and worldwide, for as long as they're up. Remove them any time, or delete your account to remove everything.

Only post what you have the right to post. We may remove anything that breaks these terms or the law.

Community guidelines

Be the teammate you'd want. Trash talk about a draft is Dota; attacking a person isn't.

Not allowed anywhere on Dota2sphere, including names, tags, crests, bios, descriptions and messages: hate speech or slurs about anyone's race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexuality or disability; harassment, threats, or telling people to harm themselves; sexual content; sharing someone's personal details; pretending to be another player, team, streamer or Dota2sphere itself.

Also not allowed: promoting cheats or scripts, boosting, sharing or trading accounts, scams, spam and advertising.

Keep applications and invites honest, and don't flood teams with requests.

Fair use of the site

Don't use bots, scrapers or scripts to collect data from Dota2sphere, and don't try to get around our limits, break our security, overload the site or disrupt it for others. If you need the data, use the public sources credited on each page.

Don't click ads on purpose, or ask others to, whether to support us or anyone else. Advertisers treat it as fraud.

We may block access that looks automated or abusive.

Moderation

Anyone signed in can report a profile or team, and we review every report. Automated filters help us catch problems early.

When something breaks these terms we may remove it, hide a team, take back a badge or title, or suspend or close an account, depending on how serious it is and whether it keeps happening. If you think we got it wrong, contact us and we'll look again.

Teams

A team's owner is its captain and is responsible for what the team page says. The owner can disband the team at any time, and everyone on it is told.

Badges and titles

Badges and titles (such as streamer or pro player) are given at our discretion. They have no monetary value, can't be traded or sold, and can be taken back if they were earned unfairly.

Other services

Signing in happens on Steam, and ads come from Google; their own terms apply to them. Links to other websites are there for convenience, and we aren't responsible for what those sites contain.

No guarantees, limited liability

Dota2sphere is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. Stats are estimates and can be wrong, and the site can be unavailable.

As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost data, lost profits or in-game results, and any other liability is limited to direct, foreseeable damage. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't allow us to limit.

Your responsibility

If you misuse Dota2sphere or break these terms and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you're responsible for the resulting costs, as far as the law allows.

Ending your account

Delete your account any time from your account page; it's immediate. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, and we may change, pause or stop the site or any part of it.

Changes and governing law

If these terms change in a way that matters, we'll update the date below and ask you to accept them again at your next sign-in.

These terms are governed by the law of the country where Dota2sphere's developer is based. If you're a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country you live in, and you can bring claims there.
